Sharper results from the new Sony 28-70mm with DxO Modules

Each DxO Module is created through precise laboratory analysis of a specific camera and lens combination. With support for the new Sony FE 28-70mm F3.5-5.6, DxO software automatically applies tailored optical corrections and Lens Sharpness Optimization, restoring detail that would otherwise be lost to optical imperfections. The result is noticeably crisper images across the frame, as demonstrated in the comparisons below.

What is a
DxO Module?

A DxO Module is an advanced mathematical model of unparalleled precision, meticulously crafted to capture the unique image quality characteristics of a specific camera and lens combination.

It encompasses “the truth” of the camera and lens combination. It refers to every physical characteristic of a particular sensor (noise, color response, etc) and of a particular lens (sharpness uniformity, distortion, vignetting, chromatic aberrations, etc), all carefully measured in laboratory conditions.

Integrated seamlessly into DxO PhotoLab, PureRAW, ViewPoint, and FilmPack, DxO Modules unlock the full potential of your equipment.

Stunning improvements with the new OM System M.Zuiko ED 50-200mm F2.8 thanks to DxO Modules

Last month’s batch of DxO Modules included support for the brand-new OM System M.Zuiko ED 50-200mm IS PRO, a lens that was guaranteed to excite any Micro Four Thirds photographer who loves photographing sports and nature.

As an OM System ambassador, photographer Petr Bambousek has been using the lens for the last couple of months and shared this image with us. You can clearly see the sharpness improvements offered by DxO Modules when compared to Lightroom — something that becomes more pronounced as you get further from the center of the lens.

DETAIL

DxO Modules

DxO Modules can achieve this because, unlike other lens profiles, they do not apply a uniform level of sharpening across the entire frame. Instead, the lens has been analyzed in such detail that DxO Modules are able to apply sharpening precisely where it’s needed, avoiding soft corners or over-sharpened centers.

What is a DxO Module?

A DxO Module is an advanced mathematical model of unparalleled precision, meticulously crafted to capture the unique image quality characteristics of a specific camera and lens combination.

It encompasses “the truth” of the camera and lens combination. It refers to every physical characteristic of a particular sensor (noise, color response, etc) and of a particular lens (sharpness uniformity, distortion, vignetting, chromatic aberrations, etc), all carefully measured in laboratory conditions.

“The best optical correction software there is.”

New DxO Modules enhance the latest gear from Canon, Nikon, Leica, Sigma, and Zeiss.

With this update, DxO offers image quality improvements for more than 104,000 camera and lens combinations.

DxO is proud to announce immediate support for the newest cameras and lenses from many of the industry’s leading manufacturers. DxO Modules are now available for Canon’s latest vlogging camera, the EOS R50 V, and Nikon’s newest full-frame mirrorless camera, the Z5 II.

In addition, a host of lenses are now included, covering new optics from Canon, Leica, Nikon, Sigma, and Zeiss. Highlights include Canon’s affordable wide-angle zoom for APS-C cameras, the RF-S 14-30mm F4-6.3, and Nikon’s new fast prime, the Nikkor Z 35mm F1.2 S.

The update also includes five lenses from Sigma — four for Canon RF-S mount and one for L-mount — and Leica’s much-anticipated refresh of the Summilux-M 50mm F1.4. Rounding off the list is the Zeiss Otus 50mm F1.4 for both Canon RF and Nikon Z mounts.

Available from today, these DxO Modules can be found in the following DxO software:

With the power
of DxO Modules, nature photographer Stefan Forster captures even better images.

Professional photographer Stefan Forster prefers to spend time creating photos rather than editing, and it’s no surprise that DxO Modules are a critical part of his workflow.

DxO Modules get the best performance from his equipment, giving him greater freedom when photographing, and achieving fantastic results — especially when creating panoramas.

“I use both my camera and my drone to make rows of pictures. Without the unique edge sharpening and vignette removal, stitched images are uneven and spoiled by banding. DxO Modules are indispensable!

DxO introduces a new generation of its AI-based denoising DeepPRIME technology for both Bayer and X-Trans sensors

This new mathematical approach sets a new bar for image quality by combining RAW image demosaicing, denoising, and chromatic aberration removal in a single pass.

“DeepPRIME lets me use settings like ISO 12800 to freeze the movement of performers under dim studio lights, while still getting noise-free images.”

DxO DeepPRIME 3: The New Standard in RAW Image Processing

DxO Labs, a leader in RAW image processing for over two decades, introduces DeepPRIME 3, an AI-powered evolution in noise reduction and demosaicing. This latest version adds sub-pixel correction for chromatic aberrations, significantly enhancing image quality. Trained on a dataset ten times larger than its predecessor and leveraging over 100,000 DxO Modules, DeepPRIME 3 sets a new benchmark for RAW processing.

A Breakthrough for X-Trans Sensors

DxO also unveils DeepPRIME XD3 X-Trans Beta*, designed for Fujifilm X-Trans sensors. While previous XD versions focused on Bayer sensors, this beta brings eXtra Detail processing to X-Trans images that were previously challenging to recover. With a fourfold increase in processing depth and extensive AI training, this innovation redefines what’s possible for high-ISO photography.

Available Soon in DxO PureRAW 5 & DxO PhotoLab8

DeepPRIME 3 and DeepPRIME XD3 X-Trans Beta* will be part of PureRAW 5 and soon integrated into DxO PhotoLab8 as a free upgrade. X-Trans photographers can access the technology preview in PureRAW 5, with DxO actively seeking feedback to refine this cutting-edge processing.
